Terms & Conditions

All fees, diets and drug charges are subject to VAT at the current rate. Fee levels are determined by the time spent on a case, the veterinary surgeon’s assessment of the medication required and according to the drugs, materials, consumables and diets used. Prices of any medicines prescribed and our written fee list are available on request. A detailed invoice is available for every consultation, surgical procedure or transaction with us. An out of hours charge will be applicable to visits, surgery consultations and dispensing of medication which occur out with normal business hours.

Accounts are due for settlement at the end of the consultation, discharge of an animal and/or upon collection of drugs/diets. An invoice will be sent following a house/farm visit which is due for settlement on receipt. You may settle the account using CASH, CHEQUE with current Bankers card or CREDIT/DEBIT CARD – Switch, Solo, MasterCard, Visa, and Delta. Payments can be made over the telephone using a valid Credit/Debit card or by BACS (please phone for bank details).

We will happily provide a written estimate as to the probable costs of a course of treatment. However, please bear in mind that any estimate given can only be approximate. Our current list of fees as displayed in our reception area.

Should an account not be settled on receipt, a reminder will be sent. Should the account still not be settled, a final reminder will be sent giving 7 days to pay before the account is passed to a Debt Collection Agency and an administration charge will be added to the account in respect of costs incurred in collecting the debt. Any cheque returned by our Bank as unpaid, any Credit Card payment not honoured and any Cash tendered that is found to be counterfeited will result in the original account being restored to the original sum with further charges added in respect of bank charges and any further costs incurred.

If, for any reason, you are unable to settle your account as specified, we ask you to discuss the matter as soon as possible with a member of staff. Please note that instalments or part-payments of any account may ONLY be sanctioned with the express permission of the Partners or Practice Manager.

Deveron Veterinary Surgeons strongly supports the principle of insuring your pet against unexpected illness or accidents. Please be aware that it is the client’s responsibility to settle the account and reclaim fees from their Insurance Company.

We hope that you never have recourse to complain about the standards of service received from Deveron Veterinary Surgeons. However, if you feel there is something you are unhappy about, we would be more than happy to discuss the matter with you. Please contact the Partners or Practice Manager. Your confidentiality is assured.

The care given to your animal may involve making some specific investigations, for example, taking radiographs or performing ultrasound scans. Even though we make a charge for carrying out these investigations and interpreting their results, ownership of the resulting record remains with the practice. Case records are the property of, and will be retained by, Deveron Veterinary Surgeons. Copies will be passed, on request, to another veterinary surgeon taking over the case. Client confidentiality is observed at all times.

Deveron Veterinary Surgeons dispense Prescription Only Medicines (POM-V/POM-VPS). This category of medication can only be prescribed and dispensed by a Suitably Qualified Person, i.e. a Veterinary Surgeon. POM V’s can only be dispensed to animals under the care of Deveron Veterinary Surgeons or on presentation of a written prescription from another Veterinary Surgeon.

It is the general policy of this practice to re-examine an animal requiring a repeat prescription every three months, but this may vary with individual circumstances and is at the discretion of the consulting vet. At the time of re-examination, the pet will be charged a consultation fee. Should you require a repeat prescription, please contact the practice 24 hours prior to collection to allow time for the veterinary surgeon to dispense the required medication.

Written prescriptions are available and a fee will be charged per prescription. Twenty four hours notice is required for a written prescription. A written prescription may not be appropriate if your animal is an in-patient or immediate treatment is required. The amount of medicines supplied on a prescription and the number of repeat prescriptions allowed is the decision of the prescribing Veterinary Surgeon.

If a client wishes to order an item or diet for their pet which is not normally held in stock, please note that we must be informed within 5 working days of placing the order of any amendment or cancellation of the order. If an item remains uncollected after 7 days, it will be charged to the client’s account as we will not be able to return it to our supplier. Please note that some ordered items cannot be cancelled as we are unable to return these items to our supplier. When placing an order, we will specifiy if this is the case.

Some aspects of the Terms may not be relevant to you and we request that you ask for further explanation/clarification if required.
